After returning from New Zealand in spring of 2015, I continued to focus on my triathlon career. Overall goal was to break that 10 hour mark at Ironman Austria 2015. Everything looked very promising until 1 week before the race. As part of a quick sprint tri it happend. Fell of the bike. Pain. Unable to move. Woke up in hospital with some serious fracture. With my femoral neck split into pieces, immediate surgery was inevitable.

However, I was quite lucky that I didn't move after the crash, so I recovered fast with a clean and stable fracture. But it involved 6weeks of absolutely no sports, and a total of 4 months of no running.
After 6 months of therapy, it was time to focus even more on the 10 hour mark. With a 4:56h finish at Ironman Sankt Pölten in May 2016, I was stronger than ever before.
Finally the day arrived. With great support of my friends I started in Klagenfurt for the 3K8 swim, 180K bike and 42K2 marathon.
10 hours - 0 minutes - 18seconds. Can you imagine my thoughts?
Well, yes, 18seconds suck, but hey, peak perfermance and a new unknown level of satisfaction. I even started at Challenge Roth just 3 weeks later and was quite good, except for some issues in my knee.
